The Director of Student Services is available
to work with students and parents on various
matters, including behavioral/emotional issues,
parenting skills, and social development. Short-term
counseling is available, as well as support groups
for new students and students experiencing separation/divorce.
If a student needs more intensive help, he/she
will be referred by the Director of Student Services
to appropriate resources in the community. When
academic intervention is needed, students may
be referred for psychological testing and/or
tutoring. Learning disabilities are not uncommon
within a bright/gifted population. When a student
has been identified as having a learning disability,
every effort will be made to provide the recommended
accommodations according to the school’s
policy. |
A series of parent education programs will
be held in the evening throughout the school
year. In the past these presentations have included
speakers on various parenting issues, social/emotional needs of gifted children, spirituality
and children, Internet issues, talking to your
teen about sex, among other subjects.
