ACS Centennial
A Century of Stewardship:
Connecting with the Past...Creating the Future

Did you know that Mrs. Coonley founded her first school in Riverside in 1906? Her first school, called the Cottage School, began with five neighborhood children who actively engaged in child-centered learning in a natural environment. This school, driven by Mrs. Coonley’s progressive ideas of education, grew rapidly and became more and more successful. To learn more about the history of The Avery Coonley School, click here.

To honor Mrs. Coonley’s creation of a progressive school devoted to academic excellence and the development of socially responsible students, the school is celebrating the ACS Centennial, A Century of Stewardship: Connecting with the Past…Creating the Future.
